We speak with Wilfred Heesen, cardiologist and e-Health program manager at the VieCuri Medical Center in Venlo, the Netherlands.
At VieCuri Medical Center, Wilfred Heesen and his team decided to use Patient Journey App to provide patients with better information about their treatment.
For Dr. Heesen, “The advantage of the app is that the patient can learn about the particularities of their treatment, on their own terms. This results in fewer unnecessary questions for us as healthcare professionals which allows us to provide 'real' care”
When asked about the current usage of the application, Dr. Heesen shared that “We are currently using the app for CAG / PCs (heart catheterization), yet soon shall also be using the app for patients who receive a pacemaker. The app has been used in the Orthopaedics department for some time and in the coming months will be rolled out across the hospital".
For VieCuri, the collaboration with Patient Journey App so far is just the beginning. According to Dr. Heesen "Our next step it to perform follow-up measurements via PROMs questionnaires within the app. We also look forward to making a connection with our EPDs in the future so that we can also exchange data between the different systems.
Patient Journey App allows health care professionals to update their patients with the right information at the right time. Through interactive push notifications patients are informed, activated and empowered about the next steps in their treatment pathway. The apps we have created are used by 100+ hospitals and clinics, across 20 countries by more than 100,000 patients.
